A gem grading certificates is a statement written by an independent and qualified gemological lab. The diamonds is evaluated for the quality, not its worth. Each and every licensed diamond is examined for its quality. Every single diamonds is unique. The certificate will map out all the diamond’s identifiable and individual characteristics. Every single certificates will include the diamond’s color, clarity, carat weight and cut data (see the 4 C’s of quality). The grading report also includes a hand-drawn map of the diamond’s inclusions. Since absolutely no two diamonds are specifically similar you can look for that the certificates matches the diamond.

You can find dozens of gemological laboratories handing out certificates but just one or two are respectable by the diamond trade. Some well-known laboratories include the European Gemological Laboratories (EGL) and the Gemological Institute of America known as GIA
